Synthia Kariny Silva de Santana

Synthia Santana is an Economist on the Research Directorate at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), where she is Head of Analysis and Dissemination for Economic Surveys.


Santana holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Getulio Vargas Foundation – EESP/FGV in 2016 for her work on Trade and Innovation at firm-level. Over 10 years she has studied the determinants of firm innovation and recently has been working on firm-level diversity of the Brazilian companies. 

Her main research topics are workforce diversity, female entrepreneurship, innovation and international trade of Brazilian firms.
